Enemy started using 8" shells each weighing about 400 lbs. 34 7" in height throwing 34 through the day, did very little damage. Casulaties caused were 4 killed and about ten wounded. Rifle fire through out the day was very quiet. Turks started to attack all along the line at 10 oclock, and continued all night. We simply mowed them down. New Zealanders on the left Flank accounted for about 2000 during the night. Our Boys and Machine guns did splendid work, the casulaties estimated about 4000, while we have about 600 killed & wounded. Heaviest nights fighting we have had since coming here. Turks seem desperate, but must be in a bad way.
