20 May
Heavy still continued through out the day. Turks fighting desperately, making continual attacks all along the line, but were repulsed on every occassion suffering severe losses. Our casulaties numbered about 300, very slight for such heavy fighting. There  Artillery very active during the morning but did very little damage. Schrapnel from our guns did great work during the afternoon. Bombs were thrown from both sides in large numbers all day. German Aeroplane pays a visit every day over our lines, expect to see an attack any time from aeroplane. Received letters from which was a great treat.

21st May
Things very quiet during the morning, hardly a shot fired. Would hardly know a war was on. New Zealanders
