To Doullens & Puchevillers
MARS [March]
26 MARDI. [Tuesday]
Having discarded great quantities of carefully collected boot brushes, writing pads, clothing, etc. etc. we fell in about 4pm & marched about 3 miles or more to the railway station of Steenbecque. Here we entrained in cattle trucks & travelled all night obtaining some sleep.
27 MER[CREDI] [Wednesday]
Arriving at Doullens in the Somme country about 7am we marched out of the town a mile or so & camped for the morning, there only being sufficient lorries for the infantry, in the late afternoon we marched to the village of Puchevillers,17 kilometres & were supposed to sleep in a wood, but sneaked off into barns! Most of the villagers had already departed.
