29 JEUDI. [Thursday]   
9am marched behind headquarters of battalion carrying stretchers about 2-3 miles up Somme towards line. Stayed near quarry about 2000 yds behind where enemy was supposed to be. Carrying during day down to loading post at CURLU. Another C Sec party with 37th Batt suffered. Snowy Woodham killed. Gates, Sullivan, Howard (Wagstaffe) wounded.
9pm Moved a mile nearer line & found dugout & obtained some sleep near Curlu.

30 VENDREDI. [Friday]   
8am we moved with RAP [Regimental Aid Post] about 1 mile nearer the line. The loading post was moved up nearly to the place we left. Had about 3 carries each during day without prisoners.
Violent enemy shelling. (Going into line we narrowly escaped machine gunfire) The RAP consisted of two small dugouts cut into top of slope of valley near Cléry. We carried down the valley → the l[oading?] post being later ¾ mile away. This valley was always shelled
