MARS [March]
17 DIMANCHE. [Sunday]
About 9 am we marched down to the wharf & an hour from leaving found us waiting for a while in Calais Roads. We marched to No 3 Rest Camp, had dinner & were safely lodged behind barb wire for a day, in tents sunk in the sand with no occupation but to watch the Chows [Chinese Labour Corps] in the opposite camp. The Camp YMCA was in great demand. I attended service there.
18 LUNDI. [Monday]
After an early dinner we were marched to the railway station through the outskirts of the town, & obtained tea from the canteen. Starting about 3pm we arrived at St Omer about 5pm & had were quartered at the Vet Hospital.
For the remainder of the day we had leave. I went up to the Church Army Cinema after obtaining some tea. Before tea I went for a walk in the Gardens which are very fine having pleasant walks in a small woods
