19 MARDI. [Tuesday]
B & C. Sections fell in at huts at Westhof about 9am and marched through Romarin & Ploegsteert past Charing Cross round Hyde Park Corner to Red Lodge Advance Dressing Station. Or rather C section did and B section marched on thro' Ploegesteert to Old Brewery & Motor Car corner advance dressing stations. From Red Lodge I was sent to a relay post.
20 MERCREDI. [Wednesday]
Stationed at "Pill Box" Relay post with Jack Perry. Ron Ponton & Harold Best. This pill box a very comfortable habitation is situated on the bank south bank of the River Douve which runs between Hill 63 & Hill 65 (Messines Ridge) to join the River Lys somewhere near Warneton. This pill box had been a machine gun & observation post before its capture by our brigade in the Battle of Messines June 7th 1917.
