Returning from leave St Omer to Brunembert
MARS [March]
19 MARDI. [Tuesday]
5am reveille. 6am boarded train starting for Boulogne, arriving at Desvres about 12.
At the leave camps for reinforcements I found Jim Prent Beatty in charge there. Walking down to the square I obtained some dinner & then walked out 5 miles in the rain to our ambulance's billets at the small village of Brunembert, north of Desvres. Here I found the section billeted in the attics of farm houses. The district is hilly & green & pretty.
20 MERCREDI. [Wednesday]
Morning: we had a bath parade to a neighbouring village. Afternoon: played football. Evening: held concert in a room we had hired in the village for writing etc. I had received an Aussy mail 27th January – some parcels so was happy.
21 JEUDI [Thursday] Route march in morning & sports in afternoon.
