go up & watch his star shells & lights going up & on a raid night one would see all kinds of lights & colours going up & the place would seem as if hell was let loose. We heard we were going on the Somme & we did not care for the change as we were very comfortable here. A little french boy 3 years old was our mascot as well as the monkey, he could speak French & English & I am sorry to say swear as bad as we could, we called him Jock. When the New Zealanders came to relieve us on October 4th  we were sorry to leave the place & we left in style. I was on a Motor Ambulance along with Scotty & the rest of the units came in motor lorrys & one could hardly see for dust. We arrived at
