different men as time went on & they were issued with new clothes. We were all expecting to be going over to the other side of the canal & there were again rumours of a scrap with the turks who were always going to make another attack on the canal. I visited the scene of the last Battle where they tried to get across the canal. Their remains were still lying out in the desert scorched up by the sun with their equipment still on. Such a scene made me feel sick & yet later on this was nothing to the awful sights I did see. A German Major's grave was on the canal bank marked with a simple wooden cross. It must have been an awful march across the desert
