Several were up at the time and our anti-aircraft guns were popping away at them, but evidently a plane is a very hard target to hit, as the shooting all went wide.   It was our first taste of gunfire. We left Estaires 10.a.m. July 9th and arrived at Erquinghem  sur Lys the same day where we were billited above first farm house, the soft straw was a feather bed to us & we liked it very much. We soon were having a feed of fried eggs & hot coffee as only French people can make it, we also found out where the Hens laid their eggs & often had some without  permission paying for same.  The French
