Mahsama then we got into trouble for Bathing in the Fresh water canal. I may tell you that during the whole march, I put my pack in the transport of the Battalions & came off easy as regards to the weight carrying. The poor infantry had to carry full packs with 120 rounds of ammunition also rifle. We started on the second day feeling fresh but in no mood to march 19 miles that was required. The first day the weather was cool but the second the Sun shone down unmercifully, how the men suffered. They were not trained enough in my opinion to understand the value of a bottle of water in the desert & drank their own before the morning was passed. I got
