to our billets, we were fools in a way for had we been wounded at all it would have been a self inflicted one. We made several friends at Armentieres & we used to go to dances & finished up with Fried potatoes for supper. During the shelling many times a civilian would be wounded sometimes killed & our boys would go out & render first aid. From the top of the school a view of the trench could be obtained & although this floor was out of bounds we went up many times & had a good look around us.
