Oct 28 a rainbow over the Somme Battlefield, what a contrast. Oct 29, Rained nearly all day, I got wet through helping Scotty fix up our Dugout which had almost collapsed & let the water in. I also fixed up an unknown soldiers grave which was getting knocked about & made him a new wooden cross as the old one was broken, drained the water off the top as well as I could & moulded it up a bit. October 30, a beautiful sunny day, put our clothes out to dry & mended our dugout, counted 24 observation Balloons & 30 aeroplanes up in the air at the same time.
