Wonderful people these French people are. We all had the wind up very often but we got used to it at the finished, he knocked off after ten days shelling. Alf Poulton got wounded down at the Y.M.C.A. and got to England, later on to Aussy & got his discharge so one of my offsiders was finished soldiering. The Pictures here were good & one often saw Charlie Chaplin on the screen but when Fritz started to shell, your money would be refunded. It took sometimes three evenings before one saw the full programme. Our boys had to assist in the sanitary work of the town but on the whole we had a good time. B Section were at Houplines a mile or so past half past eleven Square on the way to the lines.
