women work hard & we could not help admiring them as they did a mans work, while the men were at the war.   The Butter was very nice & tasty.   The dog would be placed in a large wheel & keep running around churning the butter.    One often saw a digger (nickname for an Australian soldier) helping to milk the cows.   It was therefore not surprising when one hears of a marriage taking place.   Some of the French girls are very pretty & have a style all of their own. We got a gas alarm that night but it was only our sentry with a touch of nerves. We saw several aeroplanes being shelled.   The guns were not far away from this Farm, we saw one of Fritz's
