24. DIMANCHE [SUNDAY]       
We fell in about 9am & marched a few kilos out of the village, Here but only the infantry Here we boarded motor lorries down to Wallon-Cappel a village between Hazebrouck & St Omer. We arrived here about 2 pm & were billeted in barns.

25  LUNDI. [MONDAY]   
Resting at Wallon-Cappel
We were told we were going into the thick of the battle, which had now developed into open warfare as the enemy had forced a considerable advance through our line for 50 miles south of Arras. We were told to conserve our food & water, & throw away every thing with which we could dispense
