The only thing about it was powerful barbwire entanglements & networks of 53 trenches & elaborate dugouts & underground tunnels. There is no doubt about the Germans fearing the Australians & the German High Command describes us as First Class Assault troops.
I have an Iron Cross ribbon I took off a dead Germans coat. This village we are in is terribly quiet but the Aussies are starting to paint it red. A pig & 3 fowls & 1 goose was stolen last night from farmhouses about here & of course no one blames the Aussies.
I see that Labor in Australia is having a bad time, by the papers, but their time will come.
