I could find out, I have an idea that the two

sticks were broken to show that they were  men

or inieiceated   = When enough had gathered together

a commencement was made, All this first part I

have gathered from hearsay, mostly from Yellowfellows

who had been threw it & had been made men

All the Women were musterd at the bottom

ring and placed all round it laying on the

ground and covered up with blankets or Possum

Rugs so that they could not see anything, The

Children were taken by the Old Men not

taking part in it and covered up so that they   could

not see what went on, The Head men then took

one of the knitted bags that the Women carried

their houusehold gooed in and filled it with

gumleaves and placed it in the ring - then

they brought the Boy into the ring and

made him sit down on the bag and bent his head

down and told him he must not look up or he

would be killed, The Men then form up on the

outside of the Women laying round the ring

and the Bulroarer is heard, the Old Men tell

the Boys that that is the voice of the Spirit = "Don't you

look - if you do the Spirit will kill you," The old

man then puts his hands under the Boys arms and

lifts him up = bending his head down again he
