but they had a feed of beef sometimes, I know they did

for I and Robert Herkes[?] came across a lot of them once

at the back of the Big Hill with the Women with

their nets full of fresh beef = they made off as soon

as they saw us = but we were pretty   close before they

sighted us and we saw what they had got = the

Dingo had very few people living on it then and

very few went over that part, you know it is

pretty rough country there. They would often come

to my Brother for little fellow phick" if they were

unwell. It was fun to see the look of them when he

would be asking them if their bowels were relaxed

or confined, they would look like fools, scratch their

heads and stare at him. One Darkey came one day

called "Cobler" he was from the other side of Walcha

had good English = had been a Black tracker in

the Native Police up  North and used to brag that

he could talk "Comleroy" =    He said he was "murry

bad" got bad pain in his side." Wm gave him a

good looking oiver and gave him two pills to take

at night and let him sleep in the kitchen, next

morning he was "murry bad" still = so he got his

feed &c &c and that night Wm gave him a

blister to put on his side and the next morning

he went to dress the blister taking lard &c - but

when he came to look he could find no trace
