was magnificent & it is a physical impossibility for me to explain the beauty of the scenery. We passed a hospital train full of French soldiers at Tournon. They are very short of Tobacco in France & at Francheville where the train stoppped some of the French gentlemen gave our fellows a pint of wine for a packet of cigarettes. At another station some French girls filled our waterbottles for a few of those Army Biscuits. I gave one of them 3 Biscuits for filling mine & they seemed mighty glad to get it. There is a big wine distillery at Corbeil-Essonnes. We arrived at Juvisy at 5 pm which is on the outskirts of Paris. There was an American Canteen here where I got some Coffee & Ham for half a franc. Here  we branched off on to another line. We arrived at Versailles at 7 pm & the platform was packed with
