go up a much larger tree then the men could by

their way, = The young fellows were a merry lot of fellows = used

to get drunk any chance they could get = Blackfellow's Rum

was only 2/6 a bottle = they used to have great rows sometimes

but were never stingey or greedy about their food, with one-

another - would always freely give a feed,or a drink if

but they would always give half = If they had got a bottle

always would press  you to have a drink, Once I was up

at the Crossing place when I saw Paddy carring a bottle

and Peter with him, they were comming over and were

pretty tight and were tumbling about in the River, I was

looking on and enjoying the fun and when they got

out I must have some rum = with all his tumbles Paddy

had kept the bottle all right, I would not have any

said I could not drink out of a bottle, "All right

says Paddy "we got him tinder box you drink him

out of that" (I don't suppose you ever saw one of these

tinder boxes. I have not seen one for many years

They were made of brass, about 1 inch indiameter_round

and about three inches long = one end was closed by a

tight fitting lid, the other was closed by a sliding end
