Copy of Order to Mr Jas Smith to deliver MacLeays Cattle at Nariel Hume River

Matavai  11th Octr 1841

Mr Jas Smith
You will please to deliver to the Order of Geo. MacLeay Esqr 2 Bulls, 67 Oxen. of which 50 are to weigh 600 lbs, 75 Steers from 18 months to 2 years old 140 Cows, 10 of which are given in for the deficiency of Heifers from 18 months to 2 years old, 34 Calves dropped before May last branded H on near rump and No 4 on the off shoulder now in charge of Richard Regan at Nariel Hume River Any deficiency in the H Cattle to be made up of AS No 4 Cattle

Matvai 18th Dec 1841

According to your request I forward an order on Mr John Lloyd to Deliver to you or your Order 14 Cows 28 Hiefers and 18 Calves Total 60 Head being the number dificient of your order received at Nariel.

I am Sorry the Cattle were so low in Condition at the time you received them but the only way I Can acount for it is those being too greet a quantaty of grass and the Calves not weaned in a proper time. With respect to the Bull. You Complain of I beg to Say he is not the one I intended you to have I will therefore ex. change him or make you an allowance

I hope to be at Cooks. Vale Myself. on or about the 14th Jany to Muster My Cattle if you can make it Convenient to receive them there it will save a great deal of trouble in collecting the herd a second time

Please deliver to Messers Wm & John Macleay or their Order Sixty head of Cattle being the number dificant at Nariel from the receipt they appear to be as follows. 14 Cows 28 Hiefers and 18 Calves. Total 60 Head Give a fair average but not the pick.
