Copy of a Letter to Mr James Blackett Parramatta May 25 1829

Sir
Having heard from Mr Howell that you wish to purchase Four hundred two toothed Ewes. I beg leave to offer you a flock of that number at Twenty shillings sterling per head, payable in cash or approved bills at 3 months by you allowing discount. An early answer will Oblige.

Sir
Understanding you have a farm to dispose of containing twelve hundred and eighty acres. I hereby offer you at the rate of Six shillings Sterling per acre, for the Same your paying all law and other incidental expenses

I have received yours offering me for the purchase of my farm of Twelve hundred and eighty acres at six Shillings Strg per acre which offer I accept of and will sign a deed of conveyance or other necessary document on the completion of the bargain, I will besides defray all law Expences.

I hereby acknowledge your note of the 22nd Inst. I am truly sorry that either your "body or mind" should be tricd by the pressure of the times; and am particularly grieved that you should have sustained "almost a total failure  of Crops". As your landlord I am especially sorry that you have had such a failure, and you may rely on my word that I "will not be severe with you under such circumstances" if there be a possibility of avoiding it; and I feel very confident that your "industry, economy, and perseverance, will extricate you from these difficulties, through the
