Having heard from Mr Howell that you wish to purchase Four hundred two toothed Ewes. I beg leave to offer you a flock of that number at Twenty shillings sterling per head, payable in cash or approved bills at 3 months by you allowing discount. An early answer will Oblige.

I hereby acknowledge your note of the 22nd Inst. I am truly sorry that either your "body or mind" should be tricd by the pressure of the times; and am particularly grieved that you should have sustained "almost a total failure of Crops".
