The convoy stayed two days in Colombo to take in coal and water and then quietly put to sea bound for Suez.

The Sydney stayed on coaling and cleaning and disinfecting and mending her wounds and getting the guns in order. The ship was invaded with visitors who came on board on any pretext.

One lady who ran an orphans home came on baord to beg for her black children, a curious thing to do on a ship which had its own to help, and she was so persistent and impervious to threats and entreaties that several officers went to bed to dodge her importunities.

One of our Engineers thought it was a good time to have a bath but
