24/27 - Weather beautiful. Make most of it to recognise all our lines. Delightful wandering about in the forest these times. Comparatively happy & never been so comfortable since the beginning of the War. Here where the secteur is quite we get the frequent visits of Berthelot & Deville.

2 August - Nothing changed, one man killed last night the 1st since our arrival on whilst on partrouille [patrouille - patrol]. Secteur too quiet, very strong & well founded Rumors that we are leaving for more active regions during the month. Will my turn of furlough arrive in time?
