On duty till 12, both sides are nervous & fear attack. Result mutual tirade, barrages, many wounded in corvies [fatigue duty].

11th - Our Bat'on is relieved today. They require unfortunately telephonist & are to remain another 10 days in hell.

12th - Awaken at 4 oclocks after 1st few hours sleep I've had for several days to repair the line. Coming back 150 falls few yards from me. The 1st time I distinctly see the shell coming. Cannot get communications on return. What has happened? Later - Scarcely had we reached our post when a shell fell right at the entrance of post killed 3 telephone men, 2 signallers & 3 others & wounded 3 more, upset all our sap.
