Quiet evening & night
14 - Lay new line in the morning rain & dull covered. Artillery in consequence very quiet. Our work not by any means serious under circumstances. Hear that Division Marroraine attacket cote 304 but cant get any information yet. Great discretion always observed on Phone less the Germans should hear. Towards 6 oclock boches attack our pont with petards, [detonator] tire de barrage, boches answer & things hum for an hour. During the night something more serious on cote 304, Boches bombing tire de barrage & mitrailleur. It shall not be said that we were quiet for one night.
15 - Rain miserable morning quiet. Good for us who have a fairly comfortable gourbis but for the poor chaps in the trenches, pretty miserable.
