Evening go & repair line to Ravaud Ouest in open. Things very warm on chasseurs on our right. But our side looks pretty quiet. It looks now as if they will not annoy us.
12th - Expect attack. Things quieter. They still send minen fairly regularly & to say & to say we have no artillery to destroy these beastly things. Our killed & wounded are increasing. They say they are bringing up big guns.
13 July - Fair bombardment during the day but the Boches want to celebrate the eve of the 14th by a general bombardment at 10 p.m. We answer with interest & fireworks are fine for a couple. Cant fully appreciate view for splinters are pretty thick.
14th - Things comparatively quiet. Special rations. Three extra quarts of pinard, 100 grams ham, a bottle of champagne for 4, a cygar. Vive la France.
