Saturday 17th Continued our course along shore having in the PM the advantage of a fresh gale at SWt at 2 past by the point above mentioned which is of a modte height with deep Red Clifts down which falls 4 small streams of Water on wch acct it is named Cascades Point Latde 44°:0' So Longde 2°:20' Et from Cape West from this point the land at first Trends N76°E but afterwards more to the northwd ENE 8 Leags from the point & near the Shore lies a small low Island which bore from us SbEt distce 1½ League at 7 o'Clock, at which time we Shortened sail & brot too under the Topsl with her head off Shore having 33 fam fine sandy bottom at 10 had 50 fam & at 12 were in 65 fam having drove abt 5 Miles NNWt since we brot too: 2 hours after this had no ground with 140 fam which shews that the soundings extend but a little way from the land, from 2 to 8 AM had it Calm & hazey with drizling rain at which time a breeze sprung up at SW with which we steer'd along shore NEbE¼Et keeping abt 3 leags from the land - At noon had no observn being Hazey wear with rain, our run since yesterday at Noon is NEbE 55 Miles. Longd from Cape West 3:12' East.

Sunday 18th In the PM had a fresh breeze at SWbW attended with drizling rain at 8 being abt 3 leags from the land shortned sail & brot too having run 10 leags NEbEt since noon, at this time had 44 fam & 2 hours before had 17 fam fine sandy bottom being than about 1 Leage from the land, had it calm the most part of the Night & untill 10AM when a light breeze sprung up at SWbW we Made sail along shore NEbN having a large swell from the WSWt which had risen in the Night, at Noon Latde in per Observation 43°:4'So Course & distce saild since yesterday is N54Et 54 Miles Longde made from Cape West 4°:12' Et. The Mountains & some of the Vallies we observed this morning were wholy cover'd with Snow part of which we suppos'd to have fallen in the PM & fore part of the Night at the time that we had rain & yet the wear is not Cold.

Monday 19th In the PM had a fresh breeze at SWbW and WSW which we made the most of until 6 when we Shortned sail & at 10 brot too & sounded & had 115 fam judging our selves to be abt 5 Leagues from the land, at Midnight it fell little wind on which accot we made sail at 8AM the wind veer'd to the NWbN with which we stood to the NEt close upon a wind untill noon at which time we Tack'd being abt 3 leags from the land & by observn in the Latitude of 42°:8' & Longd from Cape West 5°:5'Et  Course & distance run since yesterday at Noon No35°Et 68 Miles depth of Water 65 fam the land extendg from NEbN to SSW.

Tuesday 20th Fresh Gs at NWbN & NbWt PM fair wear the remainder hazey with rain & Squally which brot us under close Reef'd Topsails stood to the Westwd until' 2 AM when we made a Trip to the Eastwd & afterwards stood to the Westwd until' Noon when by our reckoning we were in the Latde of 42°:23'So Course & distce saild So74°Wt 54 Miles, Longde made from C West 5:55'Et Tack'd & stood to the Wastwd

Wednesday 21st In the PM had a fresh Gale at NbWt attended with rian until 6 when the Wind
