-der the remainder a fresh breeze & Cloudy with rain towards Noon. Continued a SE Course until 8 oClock PM at which time we had run 7  Leags since Noon and were between 3 & 4 Leags from the land which appear'd to be low & Sandy such as I have before Discribed we then steer'd SEbS in a Parrallel direction with the Coast, our depth of water from 48 to 34 fam a black sandy bottom. At day light found ourselves between 2 & 3 Lgs from the land which was of a modte height & Cloathed with Wood & Verdue; at 7 o'Clock steer'd SbEt and afterwards SbWt the land laying in that deriction, at 9 was a breast of a point of land which rises sloping from the Sea to a Considerable height, it lies in the Latde of 37°:43'So I named it Woody head SW½Wt 11 Miles from this head is a very small Island which we named Gannet Island on accot of the Great Number of these Birds we saw upon it. at Noon a high Craggy point bore ENEt distant 1½ Leagues, this point I have named Albetross point. It lies in the Latitude of 38°:4'So and Longde 184°:42'Wt & from Woody head So17Wt 7 Leags on the No side of it the shore forms a Bay wherein there appears to be anchorage & Shelter for Shipping against Southerly winds our Course & distce saild sence yesterday at Noon is So37° Et Distce 69 Miles Cape Maria Van Diemen bore N30Wt distce 82 Leagues.
Thursday 11th At ½ past Noon the wind shifted at Once from NNE to SSW, with wch we stood to the Westwd untill 4 PM than Tack'd & stood in shore until 7 when we gain stood to the Westwd having but little wind, at this Time Albetross point bore NEt distant near 2 Leags & the Southermst land in sight bore SSW½Wt being a very high Mountain & made very much like the Peak of Tenerieff, in this situation had 30 fam water, had little wind all night, at 4AM Tacked & stood in shore, but it soon after fell Calm & being in 42 fam water the people caught about 10 or 12 Bream, at 11 a light breeze sprung up from the Wtward & we made sail to the Southward, at Noon was by observn in the Latitude of 38°:4' So  Albetross point bore due Et distt 5 or 6 Leags.

Friday 12th Gentle breezes from between the NWt and NNEt,Fore & middle pts Clear wear, the Latter pt dark & Cloudy. Steering along shore SbW and SSWt at the distance of 4 Leags off. at 7PM saw the top of the peaked Mountain to the Southward above the Clouds bearing from us So & at the same time the southermst land we had in sight bore SbW. Took several azmths both in the Eveng & the Morning which gave the Variation 14°:15' Easterly at Noon had the winds very Variable with dark cloudy wear attended with excessive heavy Showers of rain at this time we were about 3 Leags from the Shore which lies under the Peaked Mountain before mention'd, this Peak we did not see, it being hid in the Clouds but judged it to bear about SSEt & some very remarkable peaked Islands lying under the Shore bore ESEt distt 3 or 4 Leagues.
Saturday 13th Winds Variable PM Cloudy wear at 7 o'Clock sounded & had 42 fam water
