First line transport joined Bde at BERQUIN Area. G.O.C. and B.M. visited 8th English Div. and H.Q. 23rd Inf. Bde at BRUNE GAYE Camps, then proceeded to the Bn and Coy. H.Q. in the line. Sector to be taken over extends from River LYS northwards for 4500 yds with 2 Bns in the line and 2 in reserve.

G.O.C. and B.M. inspected Left Bn area; Orders for the relief of 23rd Inf Bde issued.

Relief completed; at 11.45 pm the command of this sector passed to the G.O.C. 9th A.I.Bde

The Div Commander and the C.O's Field Co. and Right Group Artillery called at B.H.Q.

Bde Musketry, L.G., and P.T. & B.F. Schools commenced.

G.O.C. and B.M. made tour of Right Sector and decided to move Right Bn Head Quarters from Long Avenue to Old Aid Post near Despierre Farm.

Conference at Div. H.Q., STEENWERCK to outline policy etc. G.O.C., B.M. and Field Co. Commander attended. Defence to be Quiescent. It was decided that the following work should be done :- (a) Making good lateral communication along the front line. (b) Upkeep of existing defensive lines and C.T's. (c) Front Line wiring. (d) Drainage (e) Shelters for men.

It was decided to put in a new piece of support line from Suffolk Avenue (U.28 c 25.35) to Umpire Support (U.28 a 70.05) for which working parties of reserve Bns were detailed. Good trench work in progress.

Sector quiet. Lieut. G. HALFORD, Bde Intelligence Officer, reported from 4th Div. Art.

Sector quiet. At 7.30pm 34th Bn patroll saw party of enemy near our Front line and wire. they were engaged with rifle fire, one German being killed the rest escaping. Normal identification from the dead German.

G.O.C. went round the sector with Major-General C.B.C. White, B.G.G.S. 1st Anzac Corps. B.M. went round with G.S.O.1., 2nd Aust. Div. It is expected that the 2nd Aust. Div. will relieve the 3rd Aust. Div on 15th December.

Inter-Battalion relief carried out. 11th M.G. Coy relieved the 9th M.G. Coy.

The heavy artillery bombarded Laundry at C.5 c 65.55., obtaining 25 direct hits. Casualties for the month were as follows:-
