36th Bn relieved 34th Bn, latter moving to 33rd Bn bivouac. 33rd Bn moved to rest at NEUVE EGLISE. (Bde Order 78)

3 am. 33rd Bn relieved 35th Bn, and 34th relieved 36th Bn as per Bde Order 79. Intermittent shelling of valley west of MESSINES.

Specialists of 33rd and 34th Bns moved into "A" and "B" Bn areas as per Bde Order 79.

2 am. 35th and 36th Bns took over "C" and "D" front line areas respectively. 33th and 34th Bns took over "A" and "B" front line areas respectively. 9th M.G. Co. and 9th T.M. Bty took over from opposite 11th A.I. Bde Unit.
6 am. G.O.C. 9th A.I.Bde took over command of MESSINES Sector. Enemy bombarded position continuously throughout the day.

During the day 1100 rds fell into "A" Bn area, "B" area also generally bombarded, enemy trench mortars active all day.

12.5 am. Enemy artillery put down barrage on our left Bn sector of 5.9's & 4.2's.
12.10. am. S.O.S. called for to which our artillery, M.G's and T.M's replied.
12.21 am. S.O.S. ceased, all quiet by 12.30 am. Patrols active. Strong hostile patrol encountered at O.35 d 7.8. bombing fight ensued, No casualties. Enemy Strong Points bombarded by our 6" Hows including Windmill in Kiwi Farm. 4000 Shells fell in "A" Bn area, 1500 in "B" Bn area, enemy planes very active.

200 shells fell in "A" Bn area, 1100 in "B" Bn area, Gas Shells also used. Our Artillery active. Much pineapple activity from Boshe. Our patrols very active. Our left Bn established a post at O.35 a 85.63. Work commenced on a new line forward of existing front line about the centre of the Bde front.

Our 4.5 Hows engaged on Wire Cutting
7 am. Enemy shelled STICNAST FARM with Armour piercing shells for 2½ hours.
10.10 am. Heavy barrage put down on front and support lines and C.T's of "A" Bn. During the day 5000 shells fell into the right Bn area, 3000 into the left.
10 pm. Enemy infantry fired their S.O.S., (a double red rocket) enemy bombarded heavily front line and supports of right Bn. in reply.
10.55 pm. S.O.S. put up from right Co of "B" Bn.
11.15 pm. Bombardment eased off. No patrolling owing to shelling. Our M.G's replied promptly to our S.O.S. and our Stokes fired 200 rds on our S.O.S. line.

4.30 pm. Enemy aeroplanes flying low fired on a trench garrison, windmill again bombarded by our artillery.
