10 pm. Approach march of 35th Bn. commenced as per Bde Order 67. Approach march of 33th Bn. commenced as per Bde Order 67. Two Mortars of 9th A.L.T.M. Bty left with each assaulting Battalion.

Enemy shelled wood very heavily with gas causing numerous casualties to the troops. The 36th Bn supplying carrying parties for the Stunt did not reach its assembly trenches by Zero. The 33rd Btn reached assembly trenches 5 minutes before Zero. 35th Bn (assaulting Bn) and 34th (Supporting Bn) arrived at assembly trenches on good time. Role of the Brigade in the attack. -
The 9th Bde was on the extreme right flank of the 2nd Anzac Corps, who had detailed the 3rd Australian Division and the New Zealand Div., to make the attack, with the 4th Aust. Div. in reserve to exploit the success at 2 pm. The role of the Bde was no easy one; constituting an advance of 2000 yds on the left flank of the Bde, the right flank remaining as the pivot of manoeuvre for the whole Second Army. 33rd and 35th Bns supplying carrying parties. Specialists were allotted to each of the assaulting Bns.
3.10 am. Zero hour for the attack. Bde attacked as per Bde Order 66. Mines exploded.
3.52 am. Centre Coy. 33rd Bn. reports "Taken front line and pushing on."
4 am. Right Coy 33rd Bn. reports "Reached second objective, slight casualties."
4.19 am. Right Coy 33rd Bn reports "Taken all objectives and now mopping up."
5 am. 33rd Bn. reports having taken all their objectives and now consolidating.
5.15 am. 33rd Bn reports in touch with Bn on left. (35th Bn).
5.25 am. Bde Cable head party moved out.
5.17 am. Div. advise that the pigeon message from 34th Bn. states "Gray's farm captured".
5.40 am. Left Coy 34th Bn. consolidated Black line and state Right Center appear doing same.
6.35 am. 35th Bn reports that at 5,45 am all Coys reported all objectives taken, Captured 30 prisoners and 1 M.G.
7.9 am. 36th Bn report carrying parties doing well.
7.15 am. 34th Bn left Coy reports consolidating and some enemy seen near LA POTTERIE.
7.27 am. 35th Bn right Coy reports enemy massing for Counter Attack opposite our left beyond Grays Farm.
8.50 am. 33rd Bn reports practically a continuous line dug 4 ft, deep.
9.15 am. Enemy shelling front line.
