has no family and will be exactly right for the job and she has met my solicitor etc. Although Merle is the eldest and is a J.P. she has two sons and they are involved with Ron's people in Melbourne. Now that year has slipped by and now 1978. Beryl's daughter Cheryl had a little girl (Rebecca) by the end of the year. Yvonne and Alan returned from England and I was much happier. But they could not get into their unit for a while so they stayed with Margaret till such times. That Christmas I think we had it with Keith and Fay his wife, so Keith drove us to Sydney from West Pennant Hills to see Yvonne and Alan at Margaret place in North Sydney. We were all o.k,

Well now here we are in 1978 John's two Shani and Arron [Arron Wood] are both doing regular shows on T.V. (Canberra) Arron also had a set of drums etc. and Shani played piano and sang. Then Arron got a part in the picture "My Brilliant Career" I think. I have seen it 5 times over the years. Now its Easter of that year and there are Beryl and Stan. Stan Junior his wife Lyn and their son Duane, Betty and Barrie arrived. So Easter Monday Harold and I were there too and we all went for a picnic to Mt Tamborine. Merle and Ron had a van at this time and I think there were 8 of us in it. We have a lovely day, a little damp but we had afternoon tea and then came back to Merle's, we had leftovers for dinner then Ron took Harold and I home. We were at Paradise Point, only 10 minutes from them. Nothing startling for the rest of that year, only that we had Paradise Point up for sale and we were looking for something around Byron Bay.

Then suddenly a chap came one Saturday afternoon and said he would take it as it is nice and clean and I want it for my daughter who is not well. She was only 8 years old and could not be in the.......Well they went ahead with the sale and we were very pleased as we had seen some thing being built in Suffolk Park. It was 2 units together, anyway Harold bargained with the builder and we decided to take it, but it would be finished for a couple of months. Well the couple that bought Paradise Point were ready to take over in 3 weeks, so we got all packed up, and we had to get an agent at Byron Bay to get us a place to rent whilst we were waiting for Suffolk Park. We were in a good flat in Shirley Street, Byron Bay. Our furniture stored at Byron and money we got for Suffolk Park put in the bank and the interest on it paid the rent and storage, so Harold and I made a real holiday of it. We were right opposite the Byron Bay hospital. There was a lot of rain which held the building up, but we finally got into it. Well there was a lot of work to be done, curtains to be made and well the ground had to be made o.k. We did enjoy living there.

Colin, Beryl's 2nd son was married in Sydney January 1980. Harold and I went to Sydney to the wedding. We stayed with Yvonne and Alan after that we came back to Suffolk Park and Harold worked very hard on gardens and lawns and it was not as easy place to keep nice and clean outside (moths every morning all around the 3 verandas they would be there). and there was a lane we applied to buy well Harold planted all bush trees out there by now we have sold the boat before we left Paradise Point it got too much for us to handle but after all we had 9 years on the Gold Coast so no complaints, early part of retirement was great.
Well now we are up to August 1980 and it is Merles 50th birthday and she had it catered for at the Woodchopper's Inn at Maroochydore and hired a bus for everyone to go, so Yvonne and Alan and Margaret
