the ring on my finger and I loved it and each time I saw him I knew when we married we would be very happy. But there was one hitch by me every now and again, I would call him Albert and so often right up to now. (correction, not so much since he has been sick). Well we planned to get married on the 4th of March in the Methodist Church. Manly in the afternoon and reception at the Pacific Hotel, Manly.

Well firstly we had to look for somewhere to live. I was not in a hurry to sell the flats as I did not know what the girls were going to do. As when I decided to buy them I thought well one each for the 3 that is not married that was John, Margaret and Yvonne. Now Harold had enough money to put a deposit on what we decided and he was going to pay for the wedding and my frock and hat. While looking around we met Merle coming down the railway steps and she said "hello you two", and she asked us to go and see her at the house at Rocklea Pipes where her and Ron were caretakers. So we accepted and we told them about us going to get married, she said she knew but she would not come. So o.k. I accepted that, at least she is talking to me. Well we found a flat in 'Mont Clare'. Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst. It was a good place and handy for Harold for work, but not for me so I stared looking for something else, but Harold said "once we get married your not going to work!" "why" I said. "English people don't let their wives work". I said "oh well we will see about that later on" When you decide about your place and me about Manly and it was then he said "what about me taking over Manly and we will put it in both names when we get married", and I did not want to do that. So we went along with 'Mont Clare' and I would not sign it as we were not married. The solicitor said "it won't be long now though". I said "no not till I am married" So it was just left in Harold's name for the time being. It was partly furnished but I did not like the bed and the caretaker said "there is an almost new one in another flat come and have a look" so we did and it was as good as new so he made the swap for us. We used to pack Harolds things and take them up there and I would pack some of mine and take them. Well I know the family went back and forth and took things they wanted also, but I was going to start a new life and put the other one behind me, but I was still very unhappy with the family as they were not happy for me at all, (even the night we got engaged John dropped the 2 girls off and he never even came out of the car and said hello, he just drove off).

Well Harold said to me "I saw a dress in the window up the cross and think it would look very nice on you come and try it on". Well I did and it was a fawn colour frock and jacket and I got a fawn hat to match at the same shop. Harold paid for them so I bought shoes and gloves and the handbag he bought me for Christmas, all matched lovely. So thats more things done before hand, so I made our wedding cake and iced it and left it with Dorrie to bring to the Pacific Hotel. So I give up working at the Dee-Why hotel as it would be too far to travel. By now we only have a few weeks and none of the family are coming so Dorrie and Bill, Les Harold's friend, he is to give me away. Ruby Loomes and George they lived in the same block as Harold, Joan and Les friends from Mosman and I got dressed at their place. They were witnesses and there were 4 from the Sandwich Shop in William Street. where I was now working, Bill and his wife, he was the owner. Dorothy and her husband and Bill said I could not have time off to go away till after the busy period. I forget when we went but it was months after and we went to Narooma. Well this
