2 pm. Work commenced on connecting up the newly established posts. Staff of 148th Inf. Bde arrived at 9th Bde H.Q. and were given fullest information. The G.O.C. 3rd Canadian Div. and G.O.C. 4th Canadian Inf. Bde visited Bde H.Q. and had the operations of the 12th and subsequent days explained to them. Bde H.Q. staff all suffering from the effects of Gas. Bde relief postponed until night 18/19th. Enemy shelled support positions and all routes consistently day and night. Our front line not yet being shelled; apparently not yet located by the enemy.
Night 16/17th
The 33rd Bn established three new posts No. 7 at D.11 d 15.40 (Concrete dugouts) No. 8 D.11 d 27.10, No. 9, D.17 b 40.45 without any fighting.

10 am. Bde transport near Cavalry farm bombed by enemy aeroplane, causing 5 casualties to horses. Rain fell during the night. All ranks appeared very exhausted. Many suffering from Trench Feet.
18.10.17
Bde transport lines again bombed, 2 grooms and 2 horses wounded.
19.30 pm. Command passed to G.O.C. 148th Inf. Bde who had completed relief. Bde moved into camp at H.16 c 8.3 near BRANDHOEK. During the period, first line transport performed wonderful work in getting up ammunition water and rations to forward positions. The stretcher bearers performed marvellous work in collecting our own and enemy wounded under heavy shell fire. It took six stretcher bearers to carry one man, so impassable were the routes.

9th Field Ambulance were situated at the prison, YPRES with forward dressing station at POTIJE and relay stations at Frost House. All evacuation east of Frost House was by bearer, west of Frost House by Ford and horse ambulance.
24th Co. A.A.S.C. were billeted at EDWARDSHOEK drawing from railhead at the same location and delivering supplies to Cavalry Farm. The Coy was responsible for getting forward all S.A.A. as far as ZONNEBEKE.
A/B.M., I.C. and Bde Sig. Officer were all evacuated suffering from Gas.

Personnel resting, checking of casualties. Personnel and equipment being carried out of the line.
20.10.17
First line transport of Bde less Kitchens, Water Carts and Maltese Carts left en route for CAMPAGNE-LES- BOULONNAIS.
10 pm. Enemy aeroplanes bombed the area.
11.10.17
4 am. Enemy aeroplanes again bombed the area. 9th A.I.Bde moved to CAMPAGNE-LES-BOULONNAIS by train and bus.
8 pm. All units in billets. Units were dispersed as follows :- 9th Bde H.Q. CAMPAGNE-LES-BOULONNAIS, 33rd Bn ditto, 34th Bn VAUDRINGHEM, 35th Bn WISMES, 36th Bn LEDINGHEM, 9th A.M.C. Coy, HAPPE, 9th A.L.T.M.Bty and 24th Co A.A.S.C., MESNIL BOUTRY, 9th Field Ambulance VAL RESTANT and ECQUIRE.
