Left Bn. instructed to reorganise and informed that a party of engineers were being sent to assist in repair work. Information from Left Bn. stated that enemy had entered our line in Locality 16 and had also intended to raid locality 14 but was stopped there by our artillery and Stokes barrage fire. Considerable damage done to locality 14 & 15 and CTS'.  Two enemy dead found in our lines and 3 others recovered from "No man's land. Some gas shells were used by the enemy during the bombardment. Hostile aircraft very active during the afternoon. Our casualties were

23.1.17 to  28.1.17 
Usual trench warfare of a strenuous nature.

28.1.16  6pm to 31.1.16
10th A.I. Bde raided from our right Bn. front. Enemy retaliated heavily.
Usual trench warfare of a severe nature. On latter date enemy artillery bombarded the Bde. front. Our S.O.S. barrage put down as retaliation No enemy infantry action.

February
1.2.17  to 19.2.17
Usual trench warfare. Patrol encounters, working parties, harassing fire by M.G. and L.T.M. and M.T.M. Enemy retaliation. Harassing and destructive shoots by artillery. On latter date patrol encounter in "No man's" land, enemy patrol being dispersed by Lewis Gun fire.

24.2.17  10.30 pm
33rd Bn. carried out a raid on the enemy front line trench at pont BALLOT. (C. 29 a 44.26) as per Bde. Order 37. O.C. raid, Capt. LINKLATER. Party consisted of 4 Off. and 68 O/R   Enemy trenches successfully entered and about 30 Germans killed. 4 Huns were taken prisoner 3 had to be killed on the way home as they became troublesome and the fourth, an Officer, was killed by a shell in "No man's" land. Much useful information, identifications and trophies obtained. L.T.M's and M.G's co-operated and the Artillery support was excellent. raiders were in the enemy trenches 15 minutes. Our casualties were:-

26.2.17  9.40 pm
Dummy bombardment of enemy trenches in C. 23 and C. 29. commenced as per Bde. Order 39.

27.2.17  12.30 pm  
10th A.I. Bde Special party raided the enemy trench system opposite PONT BALLOT. Our M.G's and L.T.M's co-operated. Our front line was cleared of troops for raid. Raid was highly successful. 17 prisoners being obtained. 9th A.L.T.M. Bty fired 534 rounds during the raid and 6 Vickers Guns fired on various targets.
