A number of black Soldiers were reported by the force and signals made to me "Enemy advancing in force", but I am now of the opinion that this was not so severe as taken. In fact, I am inclined to believe that a party from the Missionery Station about one and a half miles South of this, were exercising their half-cast boys, and these were probably mistaken for the enemy. The force opened fire in the Plantation, but I think that no damage or Causalities occurred. When the force reached Lieutenant Bond I got word to say that he was all right, and had not been attacked. I therefore recalled the Force to the Base, and I have entrenched at the Cross Roads South East and West, and have pickets out to the South-West , but do not expect any more trouble tonight. At 7 p.m., Lieutenant-Colonel Watson arrived with two Companies of Infantry, but they were not required. I shall send "Berrima" Blue Lithos of the whole equipment and vital parts of the Wireless.
I have the honour to be, Sir,
Yours obediently,
J.A.H. Beresford
Commander, R.A.N.,
Commanding Naval Brigade.
13/9/1914.
I am sending herewith Medical Officer's Report on Hospital etc., and requisition for stores.
