BAINING,
19th September 1914.

To - Lieut.Colonel Russell-Watson:

Sir;

       Captain Stevenson and his men have been here today. I have arranged with him, that we will come down to present ourselves at Herbertshohe about two hours after the surrender of the Troops, i.e.  Monday 21st of Sept., at about noon. The   prominent members of our party are Mr. Schlettwein, Deputy-Governor and  Chief Justice, Dr. Lederer, Head of the Technical Dept.,  and Dr. Klug, District Commissioner. Mr. Adelmann, Administrator of the Station at Herbertshohe will be with us. The others are the  Heads of the clerical Departments, some auxiliary people and some people from the wireless station. The exact list of names has been given to Captain Stevenson.

             I have the honour to transmit to you the wish of most of our officials to be transferred to Rabaul, where they like to arrange their personal affairs. Mr. Adelmann is the only resident of Herbershohe, where his wife and children live. As to my person, Mr. Mirow has offered me the house of Consul Wahlen in Cunantabu as a temporary residence. I have not made any communications in the matter to Mr. Mirow because I  do not know whether you would consent to his plan. Eventually I  would be grateful to you for informing him.

             I take this opportunity to renew the assurance of my highest consideration.

                                                        Your most obedient and humble servant,

                                                                                       (Sgd.) E. HABER.
