Colonel J. Paton V.D. Is a capable & experienced officer of ability, his keeness so great that he joined the expedition as a Major & my second in command, in which position he gave me loyal support His services as Officer Commanding Rabaul Garrison have been carried out in a highly satisfactory manner.
Capt. C.H.D. Lane. As Adjutant of the infantry & afterwards as Staff Officer to the O.C. Troops, he has rendered me loyal support, his work showed keenness & ability and his services have been in every way satisfactory. His services should be made further use of:
Capt. S.P. Goodsell. As Quartermaster his services were quite satisfactory, very keen & capable, he handled the rather onerous duties of his position in a sound business like manner which greatly added to the comfort of the troops.
