The Administrator,
Rabaul:
In reply to your communication of September 23rd re cargo of "Sitar", I attach herewith the copy of a letter from G. Taefort to the "Kormoran" dated 4th October, which was found at Eitape, also report from Captain M. Morrison who has been stationed there.
The Government Official Schledt and Dr. Kulz had left Eitape before the Garrison arrived there; the former, I understand had been away fully three weeks and he is now in Dutch Territory. Dr. Kultz, I do not know where he is, but presume he also went to Dutch New Guinea. From what I gather it was from the instructions from the German Consul at Batavia that these men cleared out, and also the man in charge of the Station - Schmaus - who only left an hour or two before our arrival. Captain Morrison informed me that he found a good many copies of Bills of Lading there, but as he had nobody who could translate German was unable to make anything out of them. This information you will also find mentioned in his report.
(Sgd) E. Martin, Major.
Commandant, New Guinea.
