Naval Unit:
Commander J.H.A. Beresford, R.A.N.R.   Commanded the Troops landed at Kabakaul on 11th September for the capture of the Wireless Station at Bitapaka, which duty was successfully accomplished.   He subsequently acted as Officer Commanding the  Garrison at Herbertshohe.
Lieutenant Bracegirdle acted as Staff Officer to O.C. Naval Unit, and subsequently relieved Commander Beresford as O.C. Garrison at Herbertshohe.
Lieut.-Commander R.S. Lambton acted as King's Harbour Master at Simpsonhafen.
Lieut. T.A. Bond showed initiative and great dash and coolness under fire.

Infantry Unit:
Lieut.-Colonel W.W. Russell-Watson
:   Commanded Infantry Battalion and afterwards acted as O.C. Troops.   Commanded Force which captured enemy's last seat of Government at Toma.   His operations resulted in the surrender of German Governor, and were characterized by considerable Military ability and determination.
Major (Colonel Australian Army) J. Paton:   Commanded Garrison at Rabaul firm and judicious.   Commanded also Military portion of Expedition which captured German Ship "Komet".
Captain (Major Australian Army) Ralston:   Commanded Expedition that captured German Outlaws in New Ireland.
Major Martin administered Kaiser Wilhelmsland to my entire satisfaction.   This Officer was necessarily left for long periods without assistance
Captain R. Grant Thorold:   Administered New Ireland with firmness and judgment.
Captain C. Manning: Assistant Judge Advocate General, and Judge of Local Court.   His legal knowledge and general work as well of greatest value.
Captain G. Manning:   Did very good work as Officer in Charge of Native Affairs.
Captain E. Twynam, O.C. Native Police: reorganized Native Police.
