"Salvo" , the guns of the battery going off simultaneously, making our little hut rock & shake with the concussion.  I rolled over to sleep in a corner & had about eight hours uninterrupted repose.  After breakfast these good fellows wouldn't let me touch my own rough rations.   I made my way home to the dug outs & put in a few more miserable days.
