the bridges of which were manned by the well ble beloved military police.   Altogether there must have been over fifty thousand men in those floored at this place living in floored tents.   There were mostly Scotch and English regiments & every sector was well provided with mess rooms, canteens etc.   I have no hardships to look back upon during this period of training.   The food, in my opinion, was better than in Salisbury Plains & although the snow was plentiful the recreation huts were comfortable.   We had concerts, lectures and a pretty good dry canteen.   The wet canteen provided a very poor beer for half a franc a franc pint.   The best treat I can remember was a concert given in our mess room by the
