along in the next day or two. Our small party were taken to the 20th battalion billets, an old machinery depot off a disreputable looking right of way. Here we were handed over to our new platoon sergeant who told me we were in "boskerino" quarters as he proudly led us up a shattered staircase into a grimy looking room where special doorways had been made by obliging shells. We were shown floor space on which we threw our accursed equipment & drew our issue of rations. Our new comrades gave us curt but cordial greetings. Most of them were seated round a Kerosene tin doing duty as a stove.
