To do this properly meant staying out after hours (9 pm) & we used ti sally forth togged up like officers with cap & stick and wearing British warm. I discovered a tennis court on the other side of the village & one of our NCOs introduced me to a family of French refugees from Lille who showed me how to set about joining. Have had several games on the courts.
