Portland and Bournmouth (Dorset).

Aug 29th

Start of furlough. LONDON - my first visit.  I thoroughly explored its many famous places. The Tower, St Pauls, Westminster Abbey, etc. etc.  Was also introduced to Horseferry Rd, well known to all Australian Soldiers.

Aug 31st

Left London (Euston Station) for Scotland.  Arrived at Stirling next day. Travelled via Crewe, Carlisle and Glasgow.
A few hours in Stirling gave me a look at its famous castle and also the "William Wallace Memorial" and had a glimpse of Bannockburn and Bridge-of-Alan - travelled on same day to Ballachulish (via Connel-Ferry).  Through beautiful Scottish scenery; Lochs and Braes.  The heather was out and the country-side truely at its best.

Sept 1st

A fine trip up Loch Leven, by ferry passed the Valley of Glencoe and on to Kinlochleven - Here in this tiny village I stayed with friends and had a really fine holiday.
