My Dear Legge
Attached hereto I am forwarding a copy of a private letter I have sent to the Minister.
May I  ask for  your good offices in furthering my wishes if you think you can conscientiously support my appln.

I suppose no one is better acquainted than you with any Military merits  I may possess, and also any demerits, I therefore leave myself in your hands.
At the same time if you think the interests of the  Empire  will be better served by my remaining here, then so let it be

With kindest regards
Yours Sincy

WH

Colonel J G Legge   CMG

[Holmes had sailed for Egypt (then Gallipoli) on the Themistocles from Sydney on the 12 May 1915, with the 5th Infantry Brigade with the rank of Colonel]
