Marched from Ribemont to Contay - bitterly cold and hard frost - football in the snow.

Brigade in Reserve at Bagentin -le-Petit.

Brigade Support at Eaucourt L'Abbaye, (Hexam Rd - Butte-de-Warlancourt) Le Sars - High Wood).
Feb 4th
Front line, snow and freezing cold but thank God! no mud and we had deep dug-outs for a sleep in when off post. Pineapple bombs were Fritz's long suite here - Our boys had a raid on the "Maize" here, but the barbed wire beat them.
Feb 10
To Fricourt Farm camp via Suicide Camp and Bazentin -le-Petit (Birdwood visited us here and told us to keep boxing on). I also visited Doug Black's grave at Pozieres whilst here and saw our memorial cross erected on the hill there.
