July 25

Enlisted at Victoria Barracks, Sydney, together with my comrade, Doug Black. Afterwards in camp at Warwick-Farm and Liverpool where at different times I played the parts of Coy. Sgt. Major, Sergt. and Private.

Nov 2nd

Sailed from Sydney Harbour with 6th Rein. 19th Battn. on H.M.A.S. Euripides (15000 tons), as acting Sergeant, bound for the war, destination unknown, but with great hopes and expectations.

Dec 5th

Called at Port Melbourne, to drop sick and take on mails.

Called at Albury (W.A.) after crossing the "Bight", my first experience of rough weather - Crossing the Indian Ocean we had beautiful weather, passed few ships, and saw no land at all, we were out of
